This time of year is a highlight on the forager’s calendar. The woods are full of shoots, leaves, fungi, flowers, and sap that can provide nutritious food and potent medicine. Join us to explore these wild edibles and their many uses. The course includes:
An introduction to the practice of foraging and its core principles
A hands-on introduction to plant and fungi ID skills, using all the senses
Methods of gathering and preparing wild foods
Wild fermentation techniques
How to sustainably tap for birch sap
Folklore & history
Nutritional & medicinal benefits of the plants and fungi we find
An introduction to core bushcraft skills including an ancient fire lighting technique
Wild food samples to try along the way, pre-prepared by your guides
A cook-up over the campfire
