Live Wild Soul Sounds Singing Retreat

outdoor choir manchester

Beauty, Creativity and Abundance. This is what we create together in our hearts, minds, bodies and spirits during this nourishing weekend retreat combining communal singing and nature connection in the magical Roeburn valley in Lancashire.

Friday 20th- Sunday 22nd May 2022

This two-day residential nature immersion experience will create space and support for your authentic self to flow. Through sound, movement, connection and time in nature, together with other likeminded folk we will take you on a journey of discovery, healing and empowerment.

Many people have been discouraged from using their true voices to sing, speak up, or express their authentic feelings and vulnerability. It takes courage to explore this, and to unlock the full potential within us. On this treat you will be invited to deepen into the endless feeling of acceptance and belonging that the natural world can offer. Through skilled guidance and inspiring teaching we will encourage you to explore your authentic voice.

This weekend will support you to deepen into a more profound relationship with yourself, with nature and the community of other beautiful humans helping you to find the voice that you always knew you had.

This retreat will leave you feeling energised, inspired, motivated and with a true sense of belonging to yourself and the land.

VENUE

The Retreat will take place at the beautiful Middlewood Trust in Lancaster. The Middlewood Trust has been established to promote education and research into low impact living and sustainability. We love the Middlewood Trust because of its ethos and work, and because it’s located in a beautiful valley following the River Roeburn in north Lancashire, UK.

The trust is surrounded by 250 acres of species rich meadows, moorland, and an extensive area of native woodland.
All of the facilities are entirely off grid, utilising wind turbines, solar PV, composting toilets, solar heating, wood burning stoves and fresh water springs. All buildings are built from locally sourced materials.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation will be in the cosy Middlewood study centre. It sleeps 12 people in bunk beds over three rooms, each with a bathroom/shower. It has a living and dining area and a small kitchen. Heating and hot water is provided by a wood burning stove, with fuel sourced sustainably on the farm. You will be right in the middle of the woods with a sense of rustic wildness immediately outside the door. There is also the option to camp in your own tent or to sleep communally in the cosy yurt where we will be holding some of our circles.

TUTORS

Eco-therapist Leona Johnson (Live Wild) and Musician and Song Leader Damien Mahoney (Soul Sounds/ Music is Medicine) have come together to offer this nourishing, fun and inspiring weekend of opening and exploring our senses, extending our awareness to include the other-than-human world, and communal singing around a cosy campfire.

FOOD

All food will be vegetarian, prepared and made by hand with fresh organic ingredients where available. Other dietary requirements can be catered for- please let us know about your requirements when booking.

One of the meals during the weekend will be cooked collectively on the campfire using some foraged ingredients that we collect during a walk on the Saturday morning.

The group will support the Live Wild team by clearing and washing up together after most meals, which creates a lovely collective atmosphere.

FURTHER LOCATION and TRAVEL INFO

The site is off-grid and in the woods about 800 metres from where we will park our cars. Helpers from Middlewood can help by putting luggage into a trailer and driving it down on the back of a quad bike. Otherwise we pack lightly and and carry it with us. Please get in touch if accessibility is of any concern.

If people will be travelling by train or public transport, get in touch. We can arrange pick ups locally, or perhaps car shares with other participants where appropriate.
