Live Wild Family Days | Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire

family activities hardcastle crags

On a Live Wild Family Day, we invite you to spend quality time in the woods together, making memories, and enjoying activities organised by our facilitators including: cooking on the fire, playing games, making crafts from natural and recycled objects, song, story, and exploring. These sessions take place in one of the most beautiful natural environments in Calderdale: National Trust’s Hardcastle Crags. Parents and carers with children of any age are welcome.

In our fast-paced world, it can sometimes feel difficult to carve out quality time together, away from distractions, screens, and ‘to-do’ lists. Wild Roots Family Days invite you to take some intentional time together in the great outdoors in a welcoming, relaxed environments, with activities planned by Rachael, Nessa and the team.

She has also created, and now delivers, a children’s permaculture course. Rachael is part of our Monthly Nature Mentoring team. Outside of her work, she loves wild camping, swimming, canoe expeditions , foraging, bushcraft and learning what it is to be human. “My work and hobbies have shown me the power of nature to enliven and recalibrate us, young or old, and to give us increased confidence and creativity, as well as bring us closer to our grounded selves. I feel that creating a closeness with nature is key to our mental and physical health.”
