Live Wild Soul Sounds Autumn Retreat

Join us for a fully catered residential weekend of wild nature, deep connection and singing in circle at a beautifully situated venue in the hills of the Calder Valley. We will gather outside, and indoors by candlelight, to sing from the heart in harmony with each other. Over the course of the weekend we will explore sound, music and voice and learn beautiful songs from around the world. Our approach to group singing is very much about connection- to the wild world around us, ourselves and each other. What emerges can be playful, joyful and deeply magical.

Surrounded by abundant woodland in its fine autumn colours, bubbling brooks and vast open hill tops we shall be making the most of this glorious time of year and enjoying sunsets and blazing fires, quiet time alone and joyful music and singing.

Outdoor Singing Yorkshire

About the retreat

Much of the weekend will be spent out in the wild surroundings or gathered around a fire. The singing workshops involve some gentle physical movement, toning and voice warm ups followed by the learning of chants and songs from around the globe using simple call and response.

All meals are provided and will be nourishing vegetarian food. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the weekend.

The venue is a beautiful old converted barn in the hills- warm, comfortable and with plenty of rustic charm. Sleeping arrangements will be in 3 shared rooms with around 5 people in each. Camp beds and extra mats are provided but you will need to bring your own pillow and sleeping bag. There is also space for camping in the grounds if you would prefer to bring your own tent and sleep outdoors. Shared bathrooms include lovely hot showers, and there is large kitchen. There is an outdoor shelter and firepit in case of rain so whatever the weather, we will be able to tune into the elements and wildness around us.

The retreat is suitable for complete beginners and those with an established love of singing.

Our Singing Tutors

Leona Johnson (Live Wild) and Damien Mahoney (Soul Sounds/ Music is Medicine) have come together to offer this nourishing, fun and inspiring weekend. Both Leona and Damien are experienced singing teachers who run regular workshops in South Manchester and Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.

Please contact us if you have specific needs and want to find out more about the venue and schedule.
